Alwaght-Deputy Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces engaged in fighting Takfiri terrorists, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis congratulated the Iraqi people for the liberation of al-Qaim city and the Husaibah border crossing from ISIS.
In a statement, following a meeting with security figures in Iraq, Al-Muhandis said the terrorist group was dealt the harshest defeat.
“The defeat of ISIS today is the harshest and most important defeat since the start of the confrontation,” Al-Muhandis said in the statement, referring to the Arabic acronym of ISIL.
The commander of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) known in Arabic as Hashd Shaabi, said that the Takfiri group was actually over in Iraq after being defeated in the most important point (al-Qaim).
Al-Muhandis noted that ISIS originally spread from Al-Qaim towards the northern and western cities like Mosul and Ramadi in the summer of 2014.
On Friday, Iraqi security forces, backed by Popular Mobilization Forces, declared they had fully liberated al Qaim city in western Anbar from ISIS Takfiri terrorists.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has congratulated the country's armed forces for liberating al-Qaim in record time.
The announcement of al-Qaim liberation came just as the Syrian Army has declared the entire Deir Ez-Zor city is fully liberated after the last positions of ISIS in it were eliminated.
The territorial losses by ISIS in Iraq and Syria effectively mark the end of the Takfiri group's so called caliphate.
