At least 22 terrorists have been killed and 26 others wounded over the past two days in Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan province in anti-terrorist operations.

Alwaght- At least 22 terrorists have been killed and 26 others wounded over the past two days in Afghanistan's northern Jawzjan province in anti-terrorist operations.

"Afghan national army launched military operations in parts of Jawzjan province two days ago to clean up the areas from insurgents," General Abdul Dayan, deputy commander of 209 Shaheen Corps told reporters, adding that 22 terrorists have been killed, 26 injured and five others arrested during the ongoing crackdown.

One army soldier also lost his life, while another injured during the operation, he said.

Jawzjan province with Sheberghan as its capital 390 km north of Kabul is among relatively restive  Afghan provinces where Taliban and ISIS terrorist groups are active, often carrying out attacks against the security forces.

Meanwhile, around eighteen people were killed or wounded Sunday after an explosion ripped through a mobile phone market in southeastern Khost province of Afghanistan.

According to the local officials, the incident took place around noon time in the provincial Khost city.

Provincial police chief Faizullah Ghairat confirmed the incident but put the death toll to one person while confirming ten others were wounded in the explosion.

However, the provincial public health officials said at least four people were killed and thirteen others were wounded in the incident.

Afghanistan is experiencing increased incidents of insecurity despite the presence of US-led NATO forces in the country.
