Hamas Slams Planned Al-Aqsa Incursion by Israel’s Knesset Members

Hamas Slams Planned Al-Aqsa Incursion by Israel’s Knesset Members

Alwaght- Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned the decision by Israeli regime's Prime Minister which allows members of the regime's parliament, Knesset, to enter al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hamas's spokesman, Abdul Latif al-Qanou', in a press statement on Saturday termed the move as an "extremist decision" and a "serious escalation" adding that the decision is also  "provocative", and aimed at re-igniting the region.

Qanou' held Tel Avivl responsible for the consequences of this sacrilegious decision and affirmed that the Palestinian people will continue to defend al-Aqsa Mosque against the Israeli break-ins into the site.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu approved the decision allowing Israeli regime's Knesset members to enter al-Aqsa Mosque starting next week.

According to Zionist media sources, the decision allows Knesset members to enter al-Aqsa Mosque next Tuesday, and if the visit passes smoothly, new steps will be considered.

In a similar provocative and disrespectful move May this year, Netanyahu held his weekly cabinet meeting in the tunnels beneath al-Aqsa Mosque Compound in occupied East al-Quds.

Meanwhile, the Imam of al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Mohammad Salim, condemned allowing the entry of Israeli Knesset members into al-Aqsa Mosque. In his Friday Khutba (sermon), Sheikh Salim urged Muslims to visit the Mosque and perform all five daily prayers at the holy shrine. He also denounced the repeated incursions of settlers into its plazas.

Tens of thousands of Muslim worshipers, from Occupied Al Quds (Jerusalem), the West Bank and 1948 Occupied Palestine, performed Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque despite the Israeli tightened security measures.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site for Muslims after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
