Alwaght- the U.S. State Department spokesperson, John Kirby, rejected Israeli Prime Minister’s claim over Golan Heights saying “Those territories are not part of Israel.”
During a daily briefing at the State Department in Washington on Monday, a day after Binyamin Netanyahu vowed the Golan Heights "will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty," Kirby said " This position was maintained by both Democratic and Republican administrations. Those territories are not part of Israel and the status of those territories should be determined through negotiations. The current situation in Syria does not allow this.”
"The U.S. position on the issue is unchanged," Kirby stressed.
On Sunday, the Israeli regime cabinet held a special meeting on the Golan Heights and Netanyahu opened the meeting with a declaration that “the Golan Heights will always remain under Israeli control," he also called upon the international community to recognize Israel’s control of the territory.
Along with Washington, spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry rejected the claim, saying:” "It's a basic principle of international law and the UN charter that no state can claim the right to annex another state's territory just like that.”
Hezbollah also in a statement issued on Monday, denounced the Benjamin Netanyahu’s statements upon the session and added that this step reflects the Israeli regime's hostility against the Muslim Ummah and shows the expansionist policies of the Israeli regime.
Hezbollah reiterated that the only way of confronting the Israeli regime is through resistance and the popular uprisings as what happened in Golan on Sunday to protest against the enemy cabinet's session.
