Syrian Army Redeploys in Daraa and Sweida, Regaining Control of Homs and Hama

ALWAGHT- A military source in the Syrian Army stated that forces in the Hama and Homs countryside launched heavy artillery and missile strikes on militant positions and their supply routes.

The Syrian Army confirmed on Saturday that it has completed a redeployment of forces in the southern governorates of Daraa and Sweida, enhancing security in the region. This repositioning follows attacks by "terrorist elements" targeting army checkpoints, aiming to divert attention from the Army's ongoing operations in Homs and Hama.

The Army emphasized its commitment to national security and its resolve to confront terrorism. As it battles armed groups in Homs and Hama, additional militants in southern Syria have been targeting positions in Daraa and Sweida. In response, the Syrian Army has set up strategic control points to prevent militants from advancing toward Damascus.

Syrian and Russian warplanes carried out focused airstrikes on militant gatherings in northeastern Homs, killing dozens and destroying vehicles. The Syrian Defense Ministry confirmed that joint airstrikes are targeting terrorists in the western Hama and northeastern Homs areas. In addition, artillery and missile strikes are ongoing against militant supply lines in these regions.

Meanwhile, opposition militants in the Golan Heights claim to have taken control of al-Quneitra, while Syrian television reported that nearly 2,500 al-Nusra Front fighters have been killed in recent clashes. On Friday, the Syrian Army conducted a special operation in northern Homs, killing dozens of militants and causing widespread panic. A military source denied claims of a Syrian Army withdrawal from the Homs region.
