ALWAGHT- The death toll in Gaza has risen sharply, with 28 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry in the besieged enclave reported on Friday, as cease-fire mediation efforts remain at an impasse.
The death toll in Gaza has risen to 43,764 since the conflict began 13 months ago, with approximately 103,490 people injured during the ongoing assaults.
The Health Ministry reported that Israeli forces killed 28 people and injured 120 others in three family massacres over the last 24 hours. It also highlighted that many individuals remain trapped under rubble or stranded on roads, as rescuers face significant challenges in reaching them.
Despite a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its offensive in Gaza. The ongoing war has displaced nearly the entire population of the territory and, exacerbated by a blockade, has caused severe shortages of essential resources, including food, clean water, and medicine.
Efforts at international mediation have failed to secure a ceasefire or a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to halt the war posing a major obstacle. Meanwhile, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in Gaza.
