Chinese Special Envoy for West Asia, Zhai Jun, met with Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Advisor to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, in Tehran for discussions on regional developments. They focused on the crimes of the Israeli regime against the oppressed people of Gaza and the latest situations in Syria and Yemen.
Khaji condemned the brutal attacks by Israel on Gaza, highlighting the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians as a result of comprehensive support from the United States and some Western nations. He called on the international community to intervene and prevent the continuation of this genocide in Palestine. He also noted that Israel has extended its military aggression to Syria and Lebanon due to the silence of international assemblies.
Addressing the deteriorating economic and humanitarian conditions in Syria, Khaji urged for active involvement from the international community, particularly China, to promote humanitarian efforts and assist in rebuilding the country. Regarding Yemen, he warned that the illegal attacks by the US and the UK are undermining peace efforts and emphasized Iran's support for peace negotiations, addressing the humanitarian crisis, and facilitating political dialogues.
Zhai Jun echoed the importance of stopping Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, prioritizing the establishment of a ceasefire and affirming the Palestinian people's legitimate right to self-determination. He reaffirmed China's commitment to fostering friendly relations with Syria and expressed the Chinese government's readiness to actively participate in resolving the humanitarian and political crises in the country.
