Israeli Soldier Killed, Two Others Injured in Al-Quds

Israeli Soldier Killed, Two Others Injured in Al-Quds

Alwaght- An Israeli soldier has been killed while two others have been injured in a shooting attack in the occupied East al-Quds.

The Israeli army said early Sunday that the casualties came Saturday evening in the shooting attack in Shuafat refugee camp checkpoint, Palestine’s Shehab news agency reported.

It quoted Israeli media as saying that the shooting involved an armed assailant who approached the checkpoint on foot and opened fire on Israeli soldiers. The checkpoint was targeted by gunfire from a passing vehicle as well.

The report added that the shooting operation killed a female Israeli soldier and injured two others, one of whom in serious condition while the other suffering minor wounds.

The Israeli army confirmed that the gunman involved in the shooting operation managed to flee the scene.

Following the operation, Israeli forces were deployed to the area, closed the checkpoint and began searching the perimeter.

Israeli military helicopters also flew over Shuafat camp as the regime’s forces stormed the camp and fired tear gas canisters, resulting in suffocation injuries among Palestinians.

This came after earlier on Saturday, Israeli forces killed two Palestinian teenagers and injured nearly a dozen others during a raid on the northern occupied West Bank, bringing to four the number of people shot dead during the past 24 hours.

According to the Palestinian official Wafa news agency, undercover forces raided the Jenin refugee camp in the early morning hours of Saturday, before Israeli military vehicles rolled into the camp from multiple directions, sparking confrontations with local residents.

Israeli forces have recently been conducting overnight raids and killings in the northern occupied West Bank, mainly in the cities of Jenin and Nablus, where new groups of Palestinian resistance fighters have been formed.

More than 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the Israeli-occupied territories since the start of the year, including 51 in the besieged Gaza Strip during Israel’s three-day onslaught in August.

More than 30 of those killed were either from Jenin or were killed in the Jenin region.
