China Reaffirms Support for Peace and Stability in West Asia

ALWAGHT- During talks on Friday, Iran's foreign minister said the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz stems "solely from American oath-breaking," according to remarks made to his Chinese counterpart.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and cooperation through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS. Both reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

Araghchi said instability in the Strait of Hormuz resulted from what he described as US violations of a ceasefire agreement and reaffirmed Iran's commitment to defending its sovereignty. Wang said lasting peace in West Asia requires greater regional trust and cooperation, adding that China is ready to provide support to help advance peace efforts.
