Iran: Israeli Assassination Claims “Baseless, Absurd”

ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson firmly rejected Israel’s accusation that Tehran tried to assassinate the Israeli ambassador to Mexico, describing the claim as baseless and absurd.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei rejected Israeli accusations of a plot to assassinate the Israeli ambassador in Mexico, calling them an attempt to undermine Iran’s diplomatic ties. He said Mexican officials and intelligence agencies had already denied the allegation and noted that similar claims made in Australia were previously proven false.

Baghaei also referenced former US President Donald Trump’s recent admission of US involvement in Israeli aggression against Iran. He stated that Iran has officially submitted Trump’s remarks to the United Nations as evidence that Washington bears full responsibility for the attack, accusing the US of falsely portraying itself as open to negotiations.

He went on to highlight that a planned international law conference in Tehran will address US and Israeli military actions against Iran as part of a broader challenge to global legal norms. Baghaei said these behaviors represent unilateralism and an expansion of force-based policies beyond West Asia into regions like the Caribbean and Latin America.

Responding to NATO allegations that Iran and Russia undermine world order, Baghaei dismissed the remarks as projection, arguing that Western powers themselves have repeatedly violated international law. He reiterated that lifting US sanctions on Iran is a legal right — not a concession — and remains a crucial demand in any future talks.
