ALWAGHT- Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser on international affairs to Iran’s Leader, said Britain worked behind the scenes to promote anti-Iran positions at the 21st Manama Dialogue Conference in Bahrain.
Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser on international affairs to Iran’s Leader, criticized the UK’s role in the 21st Manama Dialogue Conference in Bahrain, held from October 31 to November 2. He emphasized that Iran has a long history of friendly relations with its neighbors in the Persian Gulf and has consistently supported smaller states in times of difficulty, highlighting Iran’s centuries-old tradition of good neighborliness.
Velayati described the Manama conference as a UK-organized forum, attended by officials from numerous countries, where Iran, Sudan, and the resistance axis were key discussion points. He noted that while some states criticized Iran, others, including Oman, defended the country. He asserted that the UK orchestrated anti-Iran efforts at the event, reflecting its attempts to regain influence after losing global power.
He further criticized Britain’s role in international conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war, accusing it of pressuring the US and Europe while failing to assist Ukraine. Velayati contrasted this with the Trump administration, which acted more independently of Britain, limiting its influence on NATO and Middle Eastern affairs. He said the UK now seeks to restore its prestige by targeting Iran and ignoring ongoing Israeli crimes in Gaza.
Velayati condemned governments that criticize Iran while supporting violence in Sudan and Yemen, calling their statements baseless. He emphasized Iran’s role as a defender of oppressed peoples and warned that those cooperating with Israel, Britain, and the US in harming Muslims will be remembered as enemies of Islam. He concluded that Iran remains steadfast in supporting Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and other resistance movements in the region.
