ALWAGHT- An Iranian lawmaker said the motion to withdraw from the NPT has been finalized and will soon be put to a parliamentary vote.
Iranian lawmaker Hossein Ali Hajideligani said the European troika’s activation of the snapback mechanism under the 2015 nuclear deal accelerated efforts in Parliament to advance a motion on Iran’s withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He noted that the proposal has completed its review process and is ready to be introduced for a vote.
Hajideligani stressed that leaving the NPT is not a mere slogan or political threat, but a carefully studied option considered at multiple levels. He described the move as a decisive response to Europe’s breaches of commitments and hostile actions against Iran.
The MP warned that European governments must recognize their actions will not go unanswered. He emphasized that Iran will defend its national interests and security through resolute, strategic, and proportionate decisions in the face of what he called Europe’s irresponsible approach.
