ALWAGHT- Israel is preparing to mobilize up to 80,000 reservists as it moves to seize Gaza City, marking its largest escalation since the war began in October 2023.
Israeli media reported Wednesday that the regime plans to mobilize up to 80,000 reservists, a month earlier than scheduled, to support preparations for a new assault on Gaza. The move comes despite warnings from officials about troop fatigue and concerns that reservist turnout may fall far below initial levels, potentially dragging the war into next year.
The escalation has already devastated Gaza, with over 62,000 Palestinians killed in nearly 22 months of war marked by mass displacement, destruction, and starvation tactics. Military plans reportedly involve surrounding Gaza City with regular brigades to force its one million residents to flee, continuing a pattern of assaults that have left civilians little time to escape.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are ongoing. Qatar confirmed that Hamas has positively responded to a new ceasefire proposal, though Israel claims it is still “studying” the response while pressing ahead with war preparations. Hamas leaders accuse Netanyahu of deliberately prolonging the conflict to pursue mass killings and ethnic cleansing.
