Pezeshkian Praises Pakistan’s ‘Heartening’ Backing Amid Israeli-US War on Iran

ALWAGHT- President Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s unwavering backing of Iran throughout the recent 12-day Israeli-American conflict, describing it as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two countries.

During a joint press conference in Islamabad with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan's unified support—across government, parliament, political groups, scholars, and the public—during the recent 12-day Israeli-American war on Iran. He condemned the aggression, which resulted in over 1,000 Iranian casualties and targeted both civilians and key personnel. Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s military response, which successfully pushed back Israeli and US attacks, bringing the conflict to a halt on June 24.

Pezeshkian highlighted the interdependent nature of regional security, stressing that peace and stability are prerequisites for economic development. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to prioritizing ties with neighboring countries, describing Pakistan not merely as a neighbor but as a “brother.” Both sides condemned Israeli actions in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, calling for greater cooperation among Muslim nations to counter Israel’s expansionist policies.

The Iranian president called on international bodies, particularly the UN Security Council, to end double standards and act decisively against sovereignty violations and civilian massacres. Expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s warm reception, Pezeshkian invited Sharif to visit Tehran. During the visit, Iran and Pakistan signed 12 agreements covering various sectors, including trade, technology, tourism, transportation, and agriculture.
