Iran: Israel Orchestrating Plan to Disintegrate Syria

ALWAGHT- The Iranian envoy to the United Nations warned that Israel’s actions aimed at undermining Syrian territorial integrity breach the principles of the UN Charter.

At the July 28 UN Security Council meeting on Syria, Iran’s UN ambassador, Saeed Iravani, urged the Council to reject what he described as Israeli efforts to fragment Syria and undermine its sovereignty. He reaffirmed Iran’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and warned that Israeli actions in southern Syria violated international law and threatened regional stability. Iravani also condemned recent Israeli airstrikes and called for an end to Israel’s occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights.

He expressed deep concern over violence in Suweida and coastal regions like Latakia and Tartous, stressing the need for accountability and justice free from foreign influence. He emphasized protecting minority rights and resolving internal divisions through inclusive national dialogue, warning that sectarian violence weakens public confidence in Syria’s political transition.

On humanitarian issues, Iravani highlighted critical shortages of food, medicine, and other essentials in Syria, calling for greater donor support and the lifting of unilateral sanctions, which he said worsen the crisis and obstruct recovery. He concluded by stressing that Syria’s future must be shaped through a Syrian-led political process, with Iran committed to working with the UN and regional partners to help restore peace and stability.
