Leader’s Advisor: Zangezur Corridor is a US-Israeli Scheme Targeting Iran’s Security

ALWAGHT- A senior aide to Ayatollah Khamenei has denounced the Zangezur Corridor as a US-Israeli ploy to destabilize Iran’s security architecture.

Ali Akbar Velayati, senior advisor to Iran’s Leader, warned at a ceremony in Tehran that projects like the proposed Zangezur Corridor are part of broader geopolitical strategies led by the United States and Israel. He argued that such initiatives aim to weaken the Resistance Axis and isolate Iran and Russia by disrupting regional connectivity, particularly between Iran and the Caucasus.

The Zangezur Corridor, a planned 43-kilometer route linking mainland Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan through Armenia, has been rejected by Yerevan over concerns about its sovereignty. Velayati claimed the corridor serves NATO and pan-Turkist interests, and is part of a wider US effort to shift geopolitical tensions from Ukraine to the Caucasus region.

Velayati emphasized that Iran views national security as a red line and has taken preemptive steps, including military deployments to border regions. He accused hostile powers of using economic projects as a front for separatist agendas and attempts to undermine Iranian identity, unity, and territorial integrity.
