Terrorist Attack on Courthouse in Southeast Iran Leaves Six Dead, 22 Injured

ALWAGHT- Gunmen attacked a courthouse in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province, on Saturday, killing six people, among them a woman and a one-year-old child.

A deadly terrorist attack occurred on Saturday in Zahedan, the capital of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, when armed members of the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group stormed a courthouse, killing six people — including a woman and a one-year-old child — and injuring 22 others. Three security personnel were killed defending the building, while Iranian forces managed to kill three of the attackers during the confrontation. Law enforcement units remain deployed at the site to secure the area.

Brigadier General Alireza Daliri, a senior police official in the province, stated that the attackers were affiliated with the Israeli regime and disguised themselves as civilians to infiltrate the judiciary building. One of the terrorists threw a grenade before being killed, causing the deaths of several civilians. The infant’s mother survived but suffered serious injuries. Daliri noted that all members of the cell were eventually neutralized by Iranian forces.

Sistan and Baluchestan has long been a hotspot for terrorist activity, largely attributed to foreign-backed terrorist groups like Jaish al-Adl, which frequently targets civilians and security forces to destabilize the region. The group has been responsible for numerous attacks, including a deadly ambush last year that killed ten law enforcement officers. Iranian security forces, including the IRGC, have recently carried out operations against these militants, killing some of their top operatives.
