Iran Accuses UK, France, Germany of Losing Credibility Over Backing Israeli Aggression

Iran Accuses UK, France, Germany of Losing Credibility Over Backing Israeli Aggression

ALWAGHT- According to Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, the credibility of France, Germany, and Britain has been undermined due to their support for Israeli actions against Iran.

In a televised interview, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, criticized the UK, France, and Germany for supporting Israel during its recent 12-day military campaign against Iran, alongside the United States. He accused these countries of using "baseless arguments" to justify their stance, echoing US and Israeli claims at the UN that Iran's nuclear program posed an imminent threat. Gharibabadi dismissed the US assertion of being in a "state of war" with Iran, calling it legally unfounded, and condemned Israel's attack on Iranian civilians and infrastructure on June 13, which triggered Iran’s Operation True Promise III and a missile strike on a US base.

Gharibabadi addressed the possibility of the EU troika activating the UN "snapback mechanism" to reimpose international sanctions on Iran, saying Iran had yet to receive formal notification but was preparing for such an eventuality. He emphasized Iran’s readiness to respond and criticized Germany’s move to request the mechanism’s activation at the UN. The snapback would reinstate old sanctions, including arms embargoes, export controls, and financial restrictions on Iranian individuals and institutions.

The Iranian diplomat warned that triggering the snapback mechanism would end all meaningful diplomatic engagement between Iran and the European trio. Despite six rounds of talks, he said such a move would show the E3’s unwillingness to honor their commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal. Gharibabadi stressed that Iran will not compromise under pressure and called it "sheer audacity" for the European countries to demand Iran fulfill its commitments while they have failed to meet theirs since the US withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018.
