Iran Set to Hold Talks with European Troika in The Coming Weeks

ALWAGHT- A senior Iranian diplomat stated that Tehran and the European troika are expected to hold meetings in the coming weeks, emphasizing that Iran’s discussions with any country are driven solely by national interests and security.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Tehran is expected to hold talks with the European troika within the next three weeks. These discussions will build on previous rounds in Geneva and New York, focusing on sanctions relief, nuclear issues, and mutual expectations. He reiterated that Iran follows the policies outlined by Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, rejecting negotiations under pressure or sanctions, particularly with the United States.

Gharibabadi emphasized that Iran remains open to dialogue with European nations and other countries while prioritizing its national interests and security. He stated that both sides had agreed to continue discussions at a more technical level, aiming for negotiated solutions on key issues. However, he warned against tying all negotiations to the demands of a party that has historically disrupted talks, highlighting Iran’s independent approach to diplomacy.

Iran’s position remains firm on pursuing diplomatic efforts without solely relying on European engagement. Gharibabadi stressed that Tehran will seize opportunities that align with its interests and does not depend on a possible divide between Europe and the US He also reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to negotiations while maintaining its right to respond to positive steps from counterparts, especially following the US's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and its failure to uphold commitments.
