Iran has filed a complaint against Saudi regime with the United Nations for Riyadh’s blockade on Yemen Sea and air ports and blocking of aid deliveries to the war-torn country.
In the letter of complaint, Iran’s envoy to the United Nations Golam Ali Khoshroo said, Press TV reported, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has tried all means to alleviate the sufferings of the affected Yemeni people. These efforts have been mostly thwarted by the [Saudi-led] coalition forces”. He also stressed that “Those who violate international law, including international humanitarian law, should be held accountable for their acts.”
“There should be no room for impunity for” the violators of the international laws, he stressed.
Saudi jets have destroyed the runway of Sanaa international airport the time and again to prevent Iranian plane carrying aid from landing, whereas aid agencies have warned of a humanitarian catastrophe, because Yemen imports more than 90 percent of its food.
The Saudi regime had forced an Iranian cargo plane carrying medical aid and food for crisis-hit people in Yemen to return, on April 28.
The Iranian aircraft, which had earlier received permits from Omani and Yemeni aviation officials to cross into Yemen’s airspace, could not land at the international airport in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, as Saudi warplanes were violently striking the runway of the civil airport.
