Terrorist Backers Using ISIS to Halt Syrian Victory in Eastern Aleppo

Sunday 11 December 2016
Terrorist Backers Using ISIS to Halt Syrian Victory in Eastern Aleppo

Alwaght:  Syrian forces have attained decisive victories in the ongoing march to liberate Eastern Aleppo while Western states backing Militants have exhausted all their media and diplomatic strategies employed to reverse the situation.

Western countries have engaged in fruitless acts of desperation to stop the rapid advance of Syrian forces and their allies especially Russia and resistance forces.  Despite this, Syrian and allied forces continue to advance and have virtually liberated the entire Eastern Aleppo region.

Now after the dismal failure by militant and terrorist groups in the war front, Western countries are engaged in dangerous and last ditch efforts to salvage their situation and that of their surrogate terrorist groups inside Syria.

Activating ISIS in Palmyra

The activation of ISIS Takfiri terrorist group in Palmyra has compelled the Syrian government and its allies to immediately send troops and reinforcement in the city to prevent it from falling to ISIS again. It is quite clear that the move by ISIS to Palmyra was coordinated by its foreign backers with the specific objective diverting the attention and energies of Syrian forces from Eastern Aleppo.

On Saturday Syrian Army reported that fighting is underway between government forces and the ISIS terrorists, who have advanced to the city’s outskirts. Palmyra or “City of Palms,” is an open-air heritage site located in Homs Province some 200km from the Syrian capital of Damascus which was fully liberated from ISIS terrorists March this year by Syrian troops backed by Russian air force.

US Arming 'Moderate Rebels'

Meanwhile, lame duck US President Barack Obama has ordered a waiver for restrictions on military aid for the so called moderate rebels in Syria, deeming it “essential to the national security interests” of the US to allow exceptions from provisions in the Arms Export Control Act. The US Congress approved the military aid a few days ago to the so called moderate rebels in Eastern Aleppo. The so-called 'moderate rebels' in Syria are actually US-supported terrorists groups.  With Eastern Aleppo on the verge of total liberation, the US is trying to ensure the 'moderate rebels' are rearmed to continue fighting or are evacuated from the region.

Russia has condemned the move saying lifting some restrictions on arms supplies to the Syrian opposition could lead to the weapons ending up in terrorists’ hands.  Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in an official statement, “Certainly, the worst result of this decision would be those weapons, including MANPADs [man-portable anti-air missiles], ending up in the hands of terrorists, which of course poses a serious threat not only for the region, but for the entire world,” Dmitry Peskov said. Asked if the decision could be dangerous to the Russian Air Force in Syria, Peskov answered, “Definitely.”

US Responsible for Terrorists' Crimes in Syria

Meanwhile Syrian Foreign Ministry dismissed the US decision on lifting the ban on weapons exports to the terrorist organizations in Syria as a new proof of the US’s role in supporting terrorism in the country.

In a statement on Saturday, an official source at the Ministry said the US President’s decision to lift the embargo on exporting arms to the armed terrorist groups in Syria aims at prolonging the crisis there so that the killing of people and destruction of the infrastructure continue.

The source affirmed that the US has never stopped its support to the terrorist organizations, including supplying them with weapons, since the beginning of the crisis in Syria.

The statement added that Syria holds the US and its allies, which like to designate these terrorist organizations as “moderate”, politically and legally responsible for the crimes committed by those organizations.
