Alwaght- A prominent Iraqi Shiite cleric called on Saudi Arabia to protect the grave of the Islam’s Prophet (PBUH) against Wahhabi ideology.
Muqtada Sadr also asked the Saudi kingdom to launch a reconstruction of the graves of Shiite Imams in Jannat al-Baqi‘, a cemetery in Medina.
In a statement issued on Saturday published by the Al-Sumaria news agency he also called on the Egyptian government to protect the “Raas al-Hussein” mosque and reopen it to visitors.
In his statement issued for the “Week of Islamic Unity” beginning at the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), he called on all Muslims to let go of their differences.
Sadr expressed the readiness of his group to cooperate on rebuilding the graves in Baqie region saying “I call on the Saudi government to protect the shrine against the terrorist ideology”.
We invite them “to rebuild the graves in Baqi and on top of the graves of People of the House (PBUT),” he added.
The cemetery has been demolished by forces loyal to the Wahhabi-Saudi alliance in 1806 and 1925.
Wahhabis of Najd demolished many of the religious buildings including tombs and mosques, whether inside or outside the Baqi 1806.
The Al-Saud clan regained control of Hijaz 1925. The following year King Ibn Saud granted permission to destroy the site.
The Iraqi cleric also called on Riyadh to redirect its military machine away from Yemen and Bahrain toward al-Quds and liberate it from Israeli occupation.
Bahraini regime has been cracking down on its people since February 2011, when anti-regime protests erupted in the country.
On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were deployed to Bahrain to assist the Manama government in its crackdown on the protests.
Saudi regime also launched a bloody aggression against neighboring Yemen in March 2015 in a bid to restore its ally Mansure Hadi into power. The refugee Yemeni president fled into Riyadh after he resigned before audi-led war that has claimed lives of over 11,000 yemenis.
