Alwaght- Iraqi army has liberated more areas around Mosul on the eighth day of an operation to liberate the city on Wednesday.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command said the national army has advanced further toward Mosul by liberating some villages that put the forces only two kilometers from the city entrance.
The Kurdish Peshmerga also cleansed the ISIS terrorists form the Dirik village near Bashiqa town that lies 12 km northeast of Mosul.
Additionally, an unnamed Iraqi military official said fighter jets from the US-led military coalition have struck areas close to the village of Sari Tepe, killing five ISIS terrorists. The slain terrorists were reportedly involved in the 21 October attack against the oil-rich northern city of Kirkuk.
Some weapon inventories were also uncovered by the army weapons in the recently-liberated Assyrian town of Karemlash, located around 30 kilometers southeast of Mosul.
The development came shortly after government forces uncovered tunnels, which were formerly used by ISIS terrorists, inside a monastery in the same area.
