EU, US Responsible for Syrian War; Irresponsible towards Refugees: French Politician

Marine Le Pen

Alwaght- French Presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen blames the EU and the US for waging war in Syria, adding that Russia is fighting against the ISIS terrorist group in Syria.

Alwaght- French Presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen blames the EU and the US for waging war in Syria, adding that Russia is fighting against the ISIS terrorist group in Syria.

“You’ve done everything to bring down the government of Syria, throwing the country into a terrible civil war, while accusing Russia which is actually fighting ISIS,” the leader of the French National Front Party said while addressing the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday.

Ms. Le Pen further stressed that it was the policies of the European Union and United States that have caused the war.

“You cannot hide your responsibility […] for plunging this part of the world into an absolutely monstrous chaos," she said.

She also describes the Union's approach towards the refugee crisis in Europe as "irresponsible".

“No real measures are taken to curb the crisis. Your irresponsible policy, on the contrary, brings us more and more economic migrants,” she said.

Since March 2011, Syria has been gripped by militancy it blames on some Western states and their regional allies.

The Takfiri terrorists operating in the Arab country have suffered major setbacks over the past few months as the Syrian army has managed to liberate a number of areas from the grip of the extremists.

United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimates that over 400,000 people have been killed in the Syrian conflict. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
