Egypt at “Vast Contrast” with Saudi View on Syria: FM

Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry

Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry says his country is at vast contrast with Saudi Arabia on Syrian war, Al-Masdar News reported.

Alwaght – Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry says his country is at vast contrast with Saudi Arabia on Syrian war, Al-Masdar News reported.

The Egyptian top diplomat says Cairo will not take part in the current Saudi Arabia’s war on Syria.

Egypt is known an old ally for the Saudi Arabia but the recent statement of its top diplomats revealed a growing disparity between the two countries, especially on the Syrian war.

Riyadh is backing a large part of the terrorist groups in Syria in a bid to overthrow the legitimate government of President Bashar Assad.

Egypt is the latest Riyadh ally to distance itself from the Saudi interventions in Syria after the western countries led by the US, showed signs of withdrawing from their initial preconditioned any solution to Assad‘s removal from power.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister added that terrorist groups cannot remain in Syria before peace can be achieved across the country; this opinion is significantly different from Saudi Arabia's approach.

Egypt says it backs a comprehensive political solution that satisfies the demands of all parties.

In his speech at the 71st general debate of the UN general assembly, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that his country is seeking a political solution for the Syrian crisis.

He called on an immediate ceasefire and the eradication of all violence in Syria. “This will pave the way for a political resolution that ensures the rights of Syrians and prevents the nation from sliding into more chaos,” he said.
