A car bomb attack by the ISIS terrorist group killed at least 9 people and injured 20 others late Monday

Alwaght- A car bomb attack by the ISIS terrorist group killed at least 9 people and injured 20 others late on Monday.

The car loaded with explosive material targeted a Shiite gathering in al-Karrada neighborhood the Iraqi capital.

ISIS took responsibility for the attack in a statement in its Amaq New Agency.

There has been no final number for the casualties and Iraqi security sources say the number is expected to increase.

A total of 691 people have been killed and 1016 others injured in terrorist attacks in Iraq during August, a UN report said.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since ISIS terrorists mounted an offensive there more than two years ago.
