Alwaght- Israeli regime's settling its people in occupied Palestinian lands has reached the point of irreversibility, international monitors warn.
Tel Aviv has settled over half a million Jews in more than 230 settlements, built on occupied land in the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem), at a cost of tens of billions of dollars, according to Reuters.
The Britain-based media outlet says "The ongoing expansion further diminishes the prospect of any significant progress being made when foreign ministers from 20 countries meet in Paris this week to discuss how to revive Middle East peace efforts, given the settlements have been a central obstacle for at least two decades."
If a peace deal were magically struck tomorrow between Israeli Regime and Palestinians, the latter would expect the extremist Jews to leave illegal settlement. But Israeli occupiers have no such intention. To them, the settlement enterprise is God-given and irreversible.
"If there's peace with the Palestinians we're staying and if there's no peace we're staying," Yoel Mishael, 65, who lives in illegal settlement of Mitzpe Yericho told Reuters. "It's part of Israel, according to the Bible. It's something from God."
The settlement project began after Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 war. In the 1970s, with the regime's encouragement, large number of Jews began moving onto the occupied land. There are now 550,000 of them.
