Alwaght- At least 18 Taliban terrorists were killed in the latest infighting among the Taliban factions in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, local officials said Monday.
A local security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the clashes between the supporters of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor and Mullah Mohammad Rasool broke out in Marjah district on Sunday.
The official further added that the gun battle still continue between the two sides as nearly 18 militants have lost their lives.
The clashes reportedly broke out among the Taliban factions after the supporters of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor started fight against the supporters of Mullah Rasool.
The 205th Corps of the Afghan National Army also confirmed the infighting the and said clahes still continue in various parts of Marjah which followed after Mullah Mansoor’s terrorsits attempted to disarm the militants of Mullah Rasool.
Mullah Rasool is an arch rival to the self-declared Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mansoor who oppose with the leadership of Mansoor as successor of Mullah Omar.
The latest infighting among the Taliban factions comes almost two months after the supporters of the two factions clashed in Herat province, leaving nearly 200 terrorists dead.
