Alwaght- The Riyadh-based Yemeni government’s delegation has said it suspended Kuwait peace negotiations while, on the other side, Yemen’s Ansarullah along with its allies are believed to have shown significant flexibility in the talks in a bid to help find a settlement to the Yemeni crisis.
The suspension of the talks by the government’s delegation is estimated to be a move ahead to accuse Ansarullah of breaching the ceasefire.
The representatives of Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi’s government- also known as Riyadh’s Delegation- have announced on Monday that they stalled direct peace dialogue with the Patriotic Delegation- comprised of Ansarullah and General People’s Congress- in Kuwait. The Riyadh’s Delegation has told UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed that it made the decision as a result of what it called continued Ansarullah's military operations in the country.
The suspension of political peace negotiations due to alleged violation of truce by Ansarullah is coming while the movement since the start of Kuwait peace talks in late April has called for stop of Saudi attacks in Yemen, and Riyadh’s commitment to the cessation of fire.
During a year, Saudi Arabia has several times accepted the ceasefire deal, however, it, as a party of conflict in Yemen, each time has violated the truce in the war-torn country.
“The Saudis and their mercenaries keep violating the truce deal in Yemen,” Saba News, Yemen’s official news agency, reported from Yemen on Sunday. “The violation has continued during the past 24 hours in a variety of Yemeni regions,” the Yemeni official media added.
According the Saba News’ report, the Saudi fighter jets during the 24 hours have flown over the Yemeni cities of Taiz, Marib, Al Hudaydah and Al Jawf.
On the other side, Ansarullah’s officials have talked about Saudi Arabia’s violations during the negotiations process and its opposition to the peace initiative proposed by (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC). Mohammad Abdel Salam, the chief of Ansarullah’s delegation to Kuwait peace talks has said that “due the current war, the (P) GCC Initiative is not implementable; the opposing side is evading it and it is because of the terms included in the initiative and they don’t want them to be.”
At the same time, Ansarullah, to push the Saturday peace negotiations ahead, has presented its plan for a political solution for the Yemeni present crisis to the UN. According to Yemen’s Al-Masirah TV, the plan has covered an array of items including stabilization of the ceasefire comprehensively, ending the sea, land and air siege imposed by Saudi Arabia on Yemen, removal of all of the limits ahead of Yemenis inside and outside of the country and agreeing on a new government to undertake security and other cases’ administration in the country.
Mohammad Abdel Salam asserted that the most significant part of Ansarullah’s plan which was handed to the UN was the formation of the national unity government and a high security committee which would be tasked with supervision of retreatment and handover of heavy weaponry to the government. Abdel Salam continued that there could be discussion on the fate of the resigned Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the possibility of his return to Sana'a based on the agreed-upon principles.
"On presidential council, our position is that it should choose an agreed-upon president and he should have defined powers during the transitional period," maintained Abdel Salam.
Las week, Ould Cheikh presented a framework for cessation of conflicts in Yemen and asked the Patriotic Delegation and the Riyadh Delegation to have their say on it.
Welcoming Ansarullah’s peace initiative, the UN peace envoy to Yemen has maintained that there were positive signals for achievement of a political agreement in Yemen.
