Alwaght-According to Reuters Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, said that Turkish troops could be used to help set up a secure zone in Syria, if there was an international agreement to establish such a haven for refugees fleeing Islamic State fighters.
Turkey has so far refused to take part in so-called ant-terrorism America-led coalition, but earlier this week, Erdogan has been negotiating on what Turkey's role might now be.
"The logic that assumes Turkey would not take a position militarily is wrong," Erdogan said in an interview with the Hurriyet newspaper on his way back from New York, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
In an apparent face off, Turkish prime minister, who had declined Turkey's role-playing in American-led coalition against ISIS, said negotiations are underway to determine how and by which countries the airstrikes and a potential ground operation would be undertaken and that Turkey is ready to take part. He added, "In the distribution of responsibilities, every country will have a certain duty. Whatever is Turkey's role, Turkey will play it".
Turkey was the only participant, who did not sign the final statement in Jeddah to fight against ISIS terrorist group, but after a few days, not only he changed his mind about carrying out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq, but also he says that "You can't finish off such a terrorist organization only with air strikes. Ground forces are complementary ... You have to look at it as a whole. Obviously, I'm not a soldier, but the air (operations) are logistical. If there's no ground force, it would not be permanent".
Turkey seeks its own goals in Iraq and Syria and wants to weaken and even topple Syrian and Iraqi government. Ahmet Davutoglu has already emphasized that Turkey needs to spread its influence in the East. Turkey daydreams about establishing an Empire like that of the Ottoman.
On the other hand, some experts believe that the scenario behind this coalition is America's re-return to Iraq. Indeed, some analysts believe that America does not seek to eradicate terrorism, but a pretext to attack countries that are not obedient to its policies.
