ALWAGHT- Yemeni forces expand their gains across Taiz, seizing over 2,000 square kilometers as Sanaa cautions Riyadh against further escalation.
Yemeni forces say they have captured more than 2,000 square kilometers in Taiz and expelled Saudi-backed militias from al-Ma’afer and al-Mawasit districts. A senior military source said stability has returned to the liberated areas.
The source warned that any Saudi military buildup would be targeted, while stressing that a general amnesty remains in effect across Taiz. He also said Yemeni forces had reached the home of Rashad al-Alimi.
Sanaa negotiator Mohammad Abdul Salam accused Saudi Arabia of escalating its involvement in Yemen after the defeats suffered by forces it had mobilized. He also blamed Riyadh for civilian casualties caused by attacks on residential areas.
Meanwhile, Yemeni officials highlighted advances in the country’s military capabilities, saying locally developed systems can now strike targets with greater precision and that Yemen has obtained advanced ballistic missile technology without relying on foreign experts.
