ALWAGHT- The Iranian Army has vowed to respond to any potential aggression with an even stronger and more crushing blow.
The Iranian Army on Monday marked the anniversary of Operation Mersad, describing it as a symbol of Iran’s strength, resilience, and the armed forces’ determination to defend the country. It called the operation one of the defining moments of the Iran-Iraq War and a testament to national unity against foreign-backed aggression.
The statement recalled that Operation Mersad was launched in July 1988 after the terrorist group Mujahadeen-e-Khalq (MEK) and Iraqi forces began Operation Forough Javidan (Eternal Light) inside Iran. It said the Iranian Army’s counteroffensive ended in a decisive victory, crediting the military leadership of the late Lieutenant General Ali Sayyad Shirazi.
Referring to the 12-Day War, the Ramadan War, and the Battle of Hormuz, the Army said Iran’s armed forces had once again demonstrated their indigenous military capabilities, national resolve, and commitment to defending the country.
The Army also warned that it would remain vigilant in protecting Iran’s independence and territorial integrity, saying any future aggression would be met with an even stronger and more crushing response.
