ALWAGHT- The interception is part of the IRGC's three-phase response to the US aggression against Iran.
Iran's air defenses intercepted and shot down a cruise missile during what the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) described as a new US attack on Khorramabad in western Iran. The incident came amid heightened tensions following Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a move the IRGC Navy said was prompted by alleged violations of Iranian maritime directives.
The United States later announced a new round of strikes on Iran, with US Central Command saying the operation was launched after a Cyprus-flagged cargo ship was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. US officials reported damage to the vessel and said one civilian crew member was missing.
In response, the IRGC said it targeted US military sites at Jordan's Prince Hassan Airbase and logistics and fuel facilities supporting US naval forces at Oman's Port of Duqm. The force warned that any further US military action would be met with an even stronger response.
