ALWAGHT- According to well-informed diplomatic sources, Pakistani Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has departed for Tehran for the second time in less than a week to conduct high-level discussions with officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Diplomatic sources confirmed Wednesday that Pakistani Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi is visiting Iran for the second time in days, following recent meetings in Tehran with the Iranian President, Foreign Minister, Parliament Speaker, and his Iranian counterpart. During that prior meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appreciated Pakistan's goodwill efforts to advance diplomacy and prevent escalation, but slammed Washington's contradictory behavior and extravagant demands as a major obstacle to the diplomatic path.
Citing past US breaches of promise and betrayal of diplomacy, Araghchi stressed that Iran remains serious about diplomacy despite profound distrust toward Washington, while sparing no effort to enhance its readiness to defend national security. For his part, Senator Naqvi pointed to his constructive discussions with Iranian officials, emphasized Pakistan's commitment to elevating all-around relations with Iran, and expressed hope that Islamabad's goodwill efforts would prove effective in establishing regional peace and stability.
