ALWAGHT- The head of Hezbollah said Israel's plans will never work because the resistance is fighting them aggressively. He also dismissed the false belief that Lebanon is weak or being controlled by other nations.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stated that Israel, backed by the United States, is continuing its aggression against Lebanon with the aim of depriving Lebanese of their legitimate rights, occupying territories, and creating a bleak future. He described the current moment as a critical juncture in regional history, with the "Zionist enemy" waging an onslaught under the patronage of the "despotic US regime." He emphasized that resilience will shape a future of dignity, glory, and independence for Lebanon and the region.
Sheikh Qassem rejected any notion of a ceasefire in Lebanon, calling it an ongoing US-Israeli aggression, and noted that Israel has violated the truce more than 20,000 times while observing none of its commitments. He insisted that Lebanon will prevail through Hezbollah's capabilities and national unity. He also criticized the Beirut government for engaging in US-brokered direct negotiations with Israel, arguing that such talks amount to freely granting concessions to the enemy, and stressed that the solution to the conflict is not surrender.
The Hezbollah leader identified four factors to overcome the current dilemma: continued resistance, domestic understanding, leveraging international developments, and exerting pressure on Israel. He urged the Lebanese government to maintain national unity and address economic and social challenges. Hezbollah launched military operations against Israel on March 2 in response to Israeli aggression against Iran, repeated ceasefire violations, and continued occupation of Lebanese territory. Following an Iran-US ceasefire on April 8, Israel accepted a ceasefire in Lebanon after Tehran made an end to attacks on Lebanese soil a key condition in its negotiations with Washington.
