ALWAGHT- The Iranian military has intercepted and turned back two oil tankers—one flying the flag of Botswana and the other of Angola—in the Strait of Hormuz, following Iran's announcement of closing the strategic waterway once more due to US violations of a ceasefire.
The Iranian military intercepted and forced two oil tankers to change course and leave the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday after declaring the waterway closed again due to US violations of a ceasefire.
The IRGC Navy previously announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to non-military vessels in accordance with the terms of a two-week ceasefire agreed upon by Iran and the United States on April 7.
The US has continued its naval blockade against Iran, ignoring the ceasefire conditions and the IRGC's designation of a corridor for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran had shut down the Strait of Hormuz to vessels associated with the US and its allies following an unprovoked war of aggression launched on February 28, but reopened it after the announcement of the ceasefire.
