ALWAGHT- An Iranian military commander has described the recent US buildup of warships and fighter jets in West Asia as “theatrical,” saying the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has firmly responded to such exaggerated moves amid tensions over Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
An Iranian military commander said US warships operating in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman have long been deployed worldwide and described the latest buildup as largely propaganda. Deputy Inspector of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi said Iran’s leadership has already responded, quoting remarks that aircraft carriers are vulnerable despite their power.
The commander recalled what he described as decades of failed efforts against Iran and warned that hostile states would ultimately be forced out of the region. He stressed that Iran’s armed forces remain on high alert and would respond more forcefully than ever to any miscalculation or aggression.
Separately, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations condemned recent US statements as violations of international law, warning they risk escalating regional tensions. In a letter to the UN leadership, he said explicit threats of force breach the UN Charter and affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense if attacked.
