ALWAGHT- Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht‑Ravanchi, has issued a strong warning that another war against Iran by the United States would be highly traumatic and harmful for all.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, told the BBC that the initiative is now “in America’s court” to show seriousness in nuclear negotiations. He emphasized Tehran’s willingness to compromise, citing its offer to dilute 60%-enriched uranium, while noting that zero enrichment and discussions of Iran’s ballistic missile program are off the table. Takht-Ravanchi stressed that any progress depends on mutual US engagement, particularly regarding sanctions relief.
Takht-Ravanchi confirmed that indirect talks between the US and Iran in Oman had been “more or less in a positive direction,” with a second round scheduled in Geneva. He highlighted the complications caused by mixed signals from the US, warning that military escalation would be “traumatic” and detrimental to the entire region, while reaffirming Iran’s right to respond to perceived existential threats.
The deputy foreign minister also noted regional efforts to prevent conflict, citing communications between Iran, Persian Gulf states, and President Trump. While hopeful for a diplomatic resolution, he underscored that Iran must remain vigilant, stating that success requires both sides to demonstrate sincerity, and warning that the presence of over 40,000 US troops in the region would drastically change the stakes.
