ALWAGHT- During the recent unrest, a commander of the Iranian Law Enforcement (police) stated that no firearms were used by the police forces against the foreign-linked violent elements.
In an interview on national Iranian TV, Commander of the Iran police special forces, Colonel Mehdi Sharif Kazemi discussed the role of special forces during recent protests and riots in Iran.
According to the commander, the police did not use firearms against protesters, instead employing non-lethal means such as water cannons, paintball guns, noise and sound vehicles to maintain order and prevent harm to civilians.
