ALWAGHT- Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi hailed the late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani as the mastermind behind the region’s “Axis of Resistance.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi praised the late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani at an international conference, calling him the “architect of the Axis of Resistance” in the region. He highlighted that martyr Soleimani’s legacy extends beyond current policies, shaping Iran’s approach to confronting what he described as bullying and arrogant powers in a world where force often overrides law.
Araghchi stressed Iran’s continued moral, political, and legal support for the resistance movement, framing it as a key geopolitical player in West Asia. He emphasized that the future regional order should respect the sovereignty and free will of nations, promote justice, and rely on cooperation rather than domination by Israel or interference from extra-regional powers.
Soleimani, commander of the IRGC Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy of Iraq’s PMU, were assassinated by a US drone strike in Baghdad in January 2020. Both were widely respected for their role in combating ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and their martyrdom have become a symbol of resistance against external aggression and destabilization in the region.
Speakers at the conference, including Soleimani’s daughter Zeinab and Iranian Deputy FM Saeed Khatibzadeh, emphasized that resistance is not just a policy but a guiding mindset against oppression. They highlighted that General Soleimani’s approach—focused on diplomacy, curbing violence, and preventing regional collapse—continues to influence Iran’s strategy and is regarded as a sustainable model for maintaining order amid ongoing threats of occupation and aggression.
