Possible Discussions with Washington Restricted to Nuclear Matters

ALWAGHT- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran will limit any talks with Washington strictly to the nuclear issue, underscoring Iran’s firm position on missiles and regional policies.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States beyond the nuclear issue. He stressed that discussions on Iran’s missile program and regional policies are entirely off the table, while noting that routine diplomatic consultations with Oman continue but do not signify any US–Iran talks.

The Foreign Ministry reinforced this stance by rejecting media claims that Oman had delivered an official message from Washington. Officials clarified that any exchanged notes through intermediaries are merely routine follow-ups and “do not constitute the start of negotiations.”

The comments come in the aftermath of a major escalation in June, when Israel launched attacks on Iran during ongoing nuclear discussions, prompting a 12-day conflict. The United States joined the fighting by striking Iranian nuclear facilities, but Iran responded with retaliatory operations against Israeli and US targets, ultimately forcing an end to the aggression.
