Tehran Slams Ecuador Over ‘Unlawful’ Move to Blacklist IRGC

ALWAGHT- Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff has sharply denounced Ecuador’s “despicable and unlawful” move to label the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) a terrorist group.

Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff strongly condemned Ecuador’s decision to label the IRGC, Hamas, and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations, calling it “irrational, desperate, and illegal.” The statement accused Ecuador of serving US and Israeli interests, arguing that the move enables Washington and Tel Aviv to expand aggression and fuels genocide in Gaza and beyond.

The statement stressed that the IRGC plays a leading role in combating terrorism, protecting Iran’s sovereignty, and supporting resistance movements like Hamas and Hezbollah, which it framed as defenders of Palestine and Lebanon against Israeli occupation. It questioned whether such groups should be branded terrorists, or whether the true violators of international law are the US and Israel.

Reaffirming its position, Iran’s military vowed to defend the Iranian nation and territory while standing by the people of Palestine and Lebanon, especially civilians in Gaza. It warned Ecuador to respect international law and human rights, while declaring that no threat will weaken Iran’s resolve to confront US and Israeli pressure with strength and determination.
