ALWAGHT- The Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff has declared Iran’s readiness to combat terrorism and safeguard the borders shared with Pakistan.
Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, discussed with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, the need to secure the shared Iran-Pakistan border amid increased terrorist activity. Mousavi emphasized Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Pakistan to eradicate terrorism, following recent attacks in southeastern Iran, including one that killed five police officers in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The Iranian general highlighted the importance of tangible joint action against terrorist groups and appreciated Pakistan’s support during the recent 12-day US-Israeli aggression. Both sides acknowledged that while some steps have already been taken, further efforts are needed to strengthen border security and address past shortcomings. Field Marshal Munir expressed condolences for the Iranian police casualties and underscored the goal of making the border a zone of friendship, brotherhood, and economic development.
Mousavi also extended sympathy to Pakistan for the devastating monsoon floods that have killed hundreds and displaced thousands. He affirmed that Iran is ready to provide assistance through its armed forces. Both officials agreed that enhanced cooperation would ensure regional security and mutual support in addressing both terrorism and natural disasters.
