ALWAGHT- Donald Trump says the Russia-Ukraine war could end immediately if President Volodymyr Zelensky renounces NATO membership and abandons Crimea.
Donald Trump said on Truth Social that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could end the war with Russia “almost immediately” if he abandoned NATO membership and claims to Crimea. He argued that the conflict stems from decisions made under Barack Obama, who did not intervene militarily when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, instead imposing sanctions.
Obama later explained that the US response was limited due to Crimea’s complex political makeup and difficulty in uniting European allies on harsher measures. Trump also highlighted a major White House gathering of European leaders, including those from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and the EU, to discuss the ongoing war.
The meeting comes after Trump’s summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, where the Russian president set conditions for a ceasefire. Putin demanded Ukraine’s withdrawal from Donetsk and Luhansk in exchange for halting advances in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. While Russia controls most of Luhansk, Ukraine retains key areas in Donetsk, such as Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
