ALWAGHT- Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani said the Lebanese and Iraqi peoples are wise and courageous enough to act on their own, without needing guidance or directives from Iran.
On August 11, 2025, during a visit to Baghdad, Ali Larijani—senior adviser and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council—announced that Iran and Iraq have prepared an “important” security memorandum, soon to be signed. The deal aims to enhance border coordination and cooperate in preventing security breaches, with a focus on mutual defense and regional stability.
Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad, Larijani firmly rejected allegations of Iranian interference in Iraq’s internal affairs or elections, as well as in Lebanon. He underlined that both nations are mature and courageous, stressing that Iran’s role is that of a supportive friend offering consultation, not issuing directives.
Larijani also praised Hezbollah and other regional resistance groups for their advanced political insight and autonomy. He emphasized that these movements “need no guardians,” reiterating Iran’s position that it engages with them through dialogue and cooperation rather than control.
