Hamas Rejects Abbas’s Call to Disarm Under Israeli Occupation

ALWAGHT- Hamas, the ruling resistance group in Gaza, has dismissed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s call to disarm.

Hamas has firmly rejected Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s call to disarm, stating it will not lay down weapons while Israeli occupation persists. Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi urged Abbas to support resistance efforts and criticized past partial agreements, accusing them of enabling further Israeli aggression.

Speaking at the Arab League Summit in Baghdad, Abbas urged Hamas to hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority and warned of existential threats to the Palestinian cause. He called for an Arab plan to stop Israeli attacks and pledged institutional reforms within the PA. His comments come amid escalated Israeli military activity and renewed negotiations over a hostage deal.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate under a total Israeli blockade. UN agencies report critical shortages of essentials, with famine spreading rapidly. Gaza's Government Media Office now reports over 61,700 Palestinian deaths since the start of the war, with thousands more believed to be buried under rubble.
