Iran to Continue Enrichment Efforts, Says Araghchi

ALWAGHT- Reiterating Iran’s entitlement to uranium enrichment, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that sanctions relief remains a central goal in the ongoing indirect talks with the US.

At a cultural event held alongside the Tehran International Book Fair, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that Iran will not relinquish its nuclear rights, particularly uranium enrichment. He reaffirmed that enrichment is a fundamental principle for the country and declared that the Foreign Ministry remains committed to defending this stance.

Araghchi noted that while Iran is open to transparency and trust-building regarding its nuclear program, these efforts do not equate to abandoning enrichment. He stated that sanctions relief is another key objective of the ongoing indirect talks with the US, and Tehran is willing to build mutual trust in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

He also highlighted that Iran’s nuclear negotiators are backed by the country’s Armed Forces, with its defense and missile capabilities serving as a source of strength in the talks. Criticizing the inconsistency in US messaging, Araghchi pointed out that Iran’s approach remains firm and principled both publicly and at the negotiation table. Four rounds of indirect talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Oman, have taken place since April 12.
