ALWAGHT- Ali Larijani, adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated that continuing negotiations without tangible outcomes serving Iran’s interests would be pointless.
Speaking at a cultural event at Shahed University in Tehran, Ali Larijani emphasized the importance of a realistic and results-oriented approach to talks between Iran and the US. He said negotiations in themselves are neither good nor bad—what matters is whether they serve Iran’s national interests. Without meaningful outcomes, he argued, there is no reason to continue talks.
Larijani noted that nuclear negotiations should only proceed if they provide tangible benefits. Otherwise, continuing them would be unnecessary. He stressed the importance of evaluating the context and timing of such discussions to make rational decisions, rather than blindly supporting or rejecting dialogue.
Criticizing US and Western sanctions, Larijani said Iran has resisted external pressure, which is why Western powers continue using sanctions in an effort to alter Iran’s behavior. His remarks follow the postponement of the fourth round of indirect Iran-US talks, which were originally scheduled for May 3. Previous rounds took place in Muscat and Rome throughout April, with Oman acting as a mediator.
