Hamas Urges Action to End Israeli Gaza Blockade

ALWAGHT- Hamas has sharply criticized Israel's continued blockade of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, urging the international community to take concrete measures to end the siege imposed by the occupying regime.

Hamas has condemned Israel's ongoing blockade of Gaza, stating that for seven consecutive weeks, essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and fuel have been blocked from entering the region. The group also accused Israel of targeting vital infrastructure like water wells and food distribution centers, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Hamas called on the international community, especially Arab and Muslim nations, to intervene and end what it described as a campaign of mass starvation.

At the same time, Hamas rejected an Israeli proposal for a six-week ceasefire that demanded the group disarm. According to a Hamas official, the proposal was unanimously rejected by all Palestinian factions for lacking guarantees on ending the war and withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza. Ongoing talks in Cairo, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, are focused on achieving a ceasefire, reopening Gaza’s crossings, and forming a post-war governance committee.

The humanitarian toll of the conflict continues to mount, with UN agencies highlighting the devastating effects on children and civilians. The Israeli military launched another aerial assault on Gaza on March 18, killing hundreds and violating previous ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreements. Since October 7, 2023, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports over 50,944 Palestinians killed—mostly women and children—and more than 116,000 injured.
