Israel Carries Out Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon

ALWAGHT- Lebanon's health ministry reported that an Israeli strike in the southern region on Monday killed one person, marking the latest raid despite a fragile truce between Israel and Hezbollah, and following a visit from a US envoy.

An Israeli drone strike in the town of Taybeh, near the Lebanese border, killed one person, according to Lebanon's health ministry. An Israeli security source confirmed the strike targeted a Hezbollah member in the area. The attack occurred near a motorcycle repair shop in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon.

Despite a ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, Israeli airstrikes have continued, including one on Sunday that killed two people in Zibqin, south Lebanon. The Israeli military confirmed it targeted Hezbollah operatives. Additionally, Israeli strikes last week hit other locations in southern Lebanon, including Hezbollah’s stronghold in south Beirut.

The ceasefire, brokered by the UN, calls for Lebanese and UN peacekeepers to maintain control over southern Lebanon, with the disarmament of all non-state groups. However, the ongoing strikes by Israel have violated the fragile truce, with attacks also hitting prefabricated homes in Naqura, used by returning residents whose homes were destroyed in the conflict.
